Artist statement

All Natural critiques the false promises of the American food industry, where artificial products are made visually seductive and emotionally comforting. The lush greenery appears fresh and healthy, but it is fake. The words “All Natural” sit over a dark tar-like surface, turning the promise of purity into something contaminated and industrial. At the center, the figure closes her eyes in pleasure while consuming a yellow shoelace that resembles pasta. What looks like food is not food at all, yet it produces a sense of comfort, satisfaction, and serotonin-like pleasure. The work exposes the contradiction between appearance and reality: beauty masking toxicity, comfort masking harm, and “natural” language disguising artificial ingredients. It asks how much we are willing to consume simply because it looks good, tastes good, or makes us feel better for a moment.
