Artist statement

Picador is a turned wood sculpture inspired by the picadores of Spain’s bullfighting tradition. Through abstracted form, metal elements, and a natural-edge wood base, the work suggests balance, ritual, tension, and cultural memory. The smooth wood conveys control and craftsmanship, while the toothed metal form introduces danger and movement, reflecting the ceremonial intensity of the bullring.
