Whimsical

Artist statement

Whimsical was created to bring peace, color, and a sense of joy into a healthcare environment. The work is composed of twelve framed panels set within a field of artificial grass, combining natural texture with reflective holographic surfaces. As light moves across the piece, the colors shift and shimmer, creating a playful and calming visual experience for patients and visitors.

The use of artificial grass suggests life, renewal, and freshness, while the local woods add warmth and craftsmanship. One panel includes the phrase: “Health is a true balance between mind and body... Stay Happy.” This message becomes the emotional center of the work, connecting its playful appearance to a deeper reflection on wellness, optimism, and healing.

Created for a patient welcome center, Whimsical is intended to soften the clinical environment and offer a moment of brightness, comfort, and emotional relief.
