Faith
2018
Artist statement
Faith reflects the constant human struggle of questioning belief, identity, and spiritual certainty. The work centers on a portrait surrounded by a dense field of laser-cut text that gives form to an inner dialogue of doubt, longing, fear, and hope. The questions that unfold across the surface speak to a deeply human condition: the search for meaning, the desire for truth, and the difficulty of reconciling reason with faith.
Rather than presenting faith as something fixed or unquestioned, the piece reveals it as a living tension. It is a space where vulnerability, uncertainty, and reflection coexist. The central figure becomes a quiet witness to that struggle, embodying the emotional weight of spiritual questioning while also suggesting endurance, humility, and the possibility of grace.
Through the combination of portraiture, text, and handcrafted structure, Faith invites viewers to reflect on their own internal questions and on the universal desire to believe, understand, and belong.
