Artist statement

Sense examines the uneasy relationship between beauty, health, marketing, and bodily harm. The female form is covered with pills, product language, warnings, and repeated words that suggest trust, fear, dependency, and manipulation. The work critiques industries that often promise wellness, youth, and protection while exposing consumers to chemicals that may enter the body through the skin or orally. Its most powerful element is maternal: the figure suggests that what a woman absorbs does not affect only her own body but may also be passed on to her child through breastfeeding. In this way, the sculpture becomes both social criticism and human warning, asking viewers to consider the hidden cost of products
